WTC South Tower Collapses

From the National Institute of Standards and Technology FOIA Release of 3,160 Electronic Records of the WTC Collapse Investigation

(Series below from Group 7, Disk 2 of 3. These are scanned photos, about 20MB each, enlarged presumbably for close study. Clipped and reduced here.)

(Below) A second aircraft has just hit WTC South Tower, at left with the Marriott Hotel, on 11 September 2001. Not much of a response yet, a few cellphones in use to report something amazing, others rubber-necking the hub-bub. See the following close-up for the first signs of panic, the lull before the cataclysm.

(Below) A fireman, center, urging a tourist family and bystanders to run for their lives. Two police officers, right, racing to help. Flaming aircraft debris in the background, right.

A report about the Naval Industrial Reserve Ordnance Plant in Sunnyvale, CA:

http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2010/03/03/18639405.php

I used to have access to building 181 in the late '70s while in the Air Force and stationed at Sunnyvale AFS (Now Onizuka AFS, to be closed in July 2010.) While as I recall the security was tight, being a Navy facility, I don't believe there was ever any nuclear material present. Sure they were building MIRV buses for tridents, and the hot topic was decoys. Someone in the same building was using an oven to test heat resistive ceramics for space shuttle tiles, too.

The allegation that nuclear materials are assembled into weapons or that weapons are loaded on to MIRVs or other reentry vehicles there is patently false. As I recollect this wasn't the most secret facility found in the locale by a long shot. There were various facilities in the area which were categorized as national defense installations with authority to use deadly force in their protection. The area rife with detachments from various three-letter agencies.
